Environmental Health Services:
Mondays - Thursdays 07:30 - 09:00 12:00 - 13:00 13:45 - 14:00 15:30 - 16:00 Fridays 07:30 - 09:00 12:00 - 13:00 Waste Removal Services: Lesedi has been divided into sections to ensure that every household has access to refuse removal services at least once per week.
Households with bulk refuse including garden refuse and building rubble can rent mass containers from the Council at a fixed rate. Bookings should be done at the Water and Lights Department at least two days in advance. Please note that the mass containers used for building rubble should be filled to no more than 75% of its capacity. Vacant Stands: All owners of vacant stands are informed annually that the stands must be cleaned on/before the end of April. Stands of owners that do not comply are cleaned/cut by the Council for which service a levy is due. It will be appreciated if owners of vacant stands can ensure that their property is cleaned and maintained on a regular basis by themselves as overgrown stands not only pose a health risk but also a safety risk to neighbors. Municipal Halls: Municipal halls are there for the use of the community. The Halls Halls are rented out in line with the Council's policy in this regard. Mokoena, can be contacted at 016 340 4485) INDIGENT POLICY: LESEDI LOCAL MUNICIPALITY The national indigent policy has been applied in the Municipality and it caters for community members who are without income at their disposal. It is designed to subsidize the services that are offered by the Municipality. It has been running since it was announced by National Government. 90% of the community has thus far benefited from the scheme. Who qualifies? Those households who are earning not more than R1100.00 per month. How to apply? Application forms need to be completed and they are available from the Social Workers who are placed at the Ratanda Administration Offices. Proof of Residence (like a rent slip) and a South African Identity Document are required for application. Office hours for the applications are as follows: Ratanda: Monday, Thursday and Friday for 08:00 - 12:00 Heidelberg / Shalimar Ridge: From 08:20 - 12:00 Devon: Tuesdays from 09:00 - 15:00 Vischkuil: Wednesdays from 09:00 - 15:00 Jameson Park: Wednesdays 09:00 - 15:00 Process The application form is completed by the social worker and is then taken for screening by the independent screening committee of the specific ward. A recommendation is forwarded to the Ward Councilor concerned for approval. After the approval by the Councilor a report is compiled for approval by the Mayoral Committee and thereafter by the Council and then given to the management for consideration and implementation. | |
